Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge


With 18,000 acres of waterways, meadowlands and ponds, Jamaica Bay is an important wildlife refuge with over 325 species of birds, as well as numerous fish, butterflies, and other types of mammalian, reptilian, and amphibian wildlife. Visitors can participate in activities like presentations, sunset tours, boat trips, hikes, lecture series, and a variety of family programs, held year-round.
